THE NINE SAGAS
![Picture](/uploads/3/9/2/1/39219779/7967631_orig.jpg)
The Nine Sagas were created during Ansemund's supremacy, and were created by him to be bequeathed to the Eternals. One by one they emerged from the Ash Tree, falling underneath the grip of their corresponding liege. The Eternals began quarrel among themselves, leaving the Sagas to do the same among each other as a result of their undying allegiance, creating a segregation between Saga and Eternal alike. For eons they were secluded from one another, training to protect and preserve the safety of the Nine Worlds..and for the commencement of Ragnarok. Ominous prophecies and dreams had long foretold the downfall of the cosmos and of its gods and goddesses along with it on a day known as Ragnarok.
In Midgard, the realm of human civilization, people abandoned their traditional ways, disregarded the bonds of kinship, and sank into a wayward, listless nihilism. The Nine Sagas and Eternals united together as the horns tolled - announcing the beginning of the end times. When Ragnarok came, the Nine Sagas protected the worlds. They impeded the titans to come forward faster than they could, although they were gradually being pushed back. From Alfheim, to Mdigard, to Jotunnheim, to Vanaheim, until finally reaching Asgard where the Nine Sagas made their stand and created nine fronts around Asgard. The prophecy condemned every last being to their demise, no matter the grit they could muster on the battlefield. Akin, each of the Nine died one by one, razing hordes to the ground in their wake.

Aldebaran-Shield of Phanes Acmon
![Picture](/uploads/3/9/2/1/39219779/538465.png?318)
Overview: Fiercely loyal, unyielding, just, and charismatic, Aldebaran doesn't hesitate to enter combat to defend the innocent. A powerful warrior with the ability to make himself invulnerable, he wields a four-bladed surral and his heiromancy magic against his foes. A man of the people, he takes pride in leading his comrades toward the common good. Though he was one of the foremost heroes, Aldebaran came from humble beginnings. He dedicated himself to protecting the denizens of the Nine Worlds, and was one of the last to fall during the end times.

Antares-Chariot of Mephistopheles
![Picture](/uploads/3/9/2/1/39219779/4712639.jpg?319)
Overview: Antares is a magic-wielding Saga. His specialty is in pyromancy: spells of fire, fire, and more fire. As a source of immense and unpredictable power, Ansemund sought to restrict and control Antares, which came into direct conflict with his need for independence and freedom. As his wild inner fire came in contact with world after world of rules and strictures, the results were sure to be explosive. They say he manipulated fire as naturally as one would breath.
Personality: There's no virtue in subtlety, at least not as far as Antares was concerned. Impulsive, passionate, and short-tempered, he was as ready to explode as the pyromantic spells of his ever-growing repertoire. To sit in his presence is to be inspired. He was reasonable yet ultimately followed no rules, except his own creative and destructive impulses. His main flaw is that of frustration, of feeling limited and constrained. He forever pushed against the barriers of mortal imagination, sensing that there is much more to express. This caused him to plummet into despondency and then lash out at the world with raw destruction.

Pollux-Shadow of Thanatos
![Picture](/uploads/3/9/2/1/39219779/8575829.jpg?337)
Overview: Pollux was a ruthless human tyrant who wanted nothing more but to turn the Nine Worlds into a hellish plane of unending war. No tactics were too merciless--and no magic too dark to secure his ascendancy. By the time he was 15, he had dominated most of Hel. With nothing more to conquer, he was left without a purpose. He then decided he wished to spread his influence to the rest of the Nine Worlds, infinite worlds opened to him, undreamed-of vistas just waiting to bow before the vast new power he had unlocked. Soon, however, he learned that there were others like him--other Sagas whose power and ambition equaled his own. In unison they binded him to Hel so that he could not wreak havoc to the other Nine Worlds. To best these new rivals, Pollux would do what he had always done: betray any trust, commit any blasphemy, and pay any price for power. He schemed and scraped to acquire the relics he needed to unlock the merest fraction of the power an Eternal wielded, nursing a fury toward them along the way. Eventually, Pollux began channeling dark energies that even the Eternals began to fear. After years of plotting, on the eve of Ragnarok he was released from the chain that bound him to Hel. Unshackled, he directed his malice onto the battlefield where he slayed not only a plethora of opponents, but himself afterward.
Cephei-Veil of Nyx
![Picture](/uploads/3/9/2/1/39219779/8043358.jpg?347)
Overview: Cephei always had the guts to defy the powers that be, he just never had the strength to stand up to those who oppressed him. Native to Svartalfheim, he was orphaned to the broken streets and decrepit ruins of the worlds outskirts, Nyx having abandoned him. He spent his adolescence on the run, making trouble and dodging patrols. He longed to fight alongside the Sagas, he was so small and wiry that none of them accepted him. In a spurt of frustrated drive, he became a combatant in an arena whose godless syndicate didn't bother him. When he did not find allies in the Sagas, he discovered them in the heat of battle. His affinity for strife grew out of his natural distrust of rules, heirarchies and authority figures. He is now a Saga, but he still has much to learn. As his abilities grew, his restraint faded. His revering ferocity over discipline never curbed his rash impulses.

Carinae-Torch of Hesporos
![Picture](/uploads/3/9/2/1/39219779/1524032.jpg?317)
Overview: A magic-wielding Saga, Carinae doesn't use brute force to get what he wants, but rather knowledge, defense, persistence, and the mind. His knowledge of the metaphysical forces on his world is unparalleled, and as a Saga, Carinae sees each plane as an unexplored treasure trove of knowledge to be siphoned. He is particularly enamored with the mysteries of magic and its viability. Observing it for as long as he lived, he carefully charted the forces at work, including the ebb and flow of the effect it induces on others. This sometimes meant using half-constructed spells on what he called, "test subjects" but what others would call mortified pedestrians.
Arcturus-Armor of Messiah
![Picture](/uploads/3/9/2/1/39219779/5099841.jpg?335)
Overview: Arcturus radiated with pride and self-assurance. His powers filled the sky with light, and in person he had the same overwhelming aura of awe and brilliance. He is convivial, making friends and forming bonds easily, and he sees himself as an ally to all. But others know that he can be fickle in his loyalty. His greatest ally of today might be the target of his retribution tomorrow. Over the course of the existence of the Nine Saga, Arcturus demonstrated a strong capacity for arrogance. He styles himself as the "greatest of the Sagas" and demanded praise from both them and the Eternals. This escalates into outright conflict with Aldebaran, who challenges him in this assertions. This need for chronical adoration also leads him to dislike Ansemund, whom he accuses to be "an usurper."
